Jia Hui’s passion is working with individuals with diverse learning needs. She obtained her Masters in Applied Psychology (Educational Psychology) at the National Institute of Education. She has been working with families and their children (aged 3 to 18 years old) of varying developmental needs since 2014.
Through her career as a psychologist, she had served in different paediatric settings like the social service sector, mainstream pre-schools and in the private sector.
Jia Hui provides a range of therapy intervention and psycho-educational assessments for children and adolescents. She is trained to administer tools such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2). In addition, she is experienced in coaching teachers and parents for skills transference when supporting a child’s learning and behaviour.
Jia Hui’s clinical interests lie in developing children’s social-emotional skills, building better bonds between caregivers and children, and narrative therapy. She is an accredited Cool Kids Anxiety Programme facilitator, is trained in Narrative Therapy, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST), Marschak Interaction Model Group Theraplay and Level One Theraplay. She recently presented an applied-research study at the Asian Conference on Psychology & the Behavioral Sciences (ACP 2020) and at the 8th International Congress of Clinical and Health Psychology in Children and Adolescents 2022 (Elche, Spain) on the lived experiences of neuro-typical siblings living with a sibling with special needs. She is committed in providing a safe space for her clients and families, and firmly advocates that all clients, regardless of their abilities, have the potential to learn and to have their voices heard.
