Educational Therapist Certified in Orton-Gillingham
Gloria Tan is an Educational Therapist who works with learners facing specific learning difficulties (dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, and autism). She has more than 10 years of experience in tutoring students and has experience guiding students coping with mental health challenges (depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and self-harm). Having worked with local and international students since 2011, she is well-versed in the MOE Primary and Secondary syllabus and the IGCSE syllabus. Gloria worked as a registered MOE relief teacher in 2011 and in U.S. higher education policy-making and advocacy whilst pursuing her studies abroad. She holds dual Bachelors degrees in Economics and International Studies, with minors in Gender Studies and Diversity Studies. Passionate for growth both as a learner and as an educator, she completed her Specialist Diploma in Learning Support for Specific Learning Differences with the Dyslexia Association of Singapore (DAS) in 2021.
At Bloom, Gloria provides educational therapy services through systematic, multi-sensory, and emotionally sound evidence-based interventions such as the Orton-Gillingham method. She crafts and implements individualised educational plans (IEPs) that empower learners to reach their literacy, numeracy, and socio-emotional goals. She helps learners regain confidence by developing strategies to improve their executive function, emotional regulation, and social skills. Gloria values a holistic approach to supporting clients, and works collaboratively with caregivers, school teachers, educational psychologists, and other therapists (speech, occupational, etc.) to form a multi-faceted support team that can further learners’ overall progress. Gloria is also certified in providing victim services, crisis intervention, trauma management, and public education.
Outside of work, Gloria is a dancer and a language nerd. She is fluent in English and Mandarin, and proficient in Hakka, French, and Spanish.
